Historic District
The Pleasant Ridge Historic District was registered with the National Park Service in 1991 after an extensive architectural survey. Homes within the district may be eligible for state tax credits of 25% of qualifying renovation expenses. The district boundaries are roughly Woodward on the east, Ridge Road (both sides) on the west, Millington on the north, and Cambridge on the south. The east side of the city is also now included in the district. In the summer of 2007, funds were allocated to proceed with the process to obtain approval for inclusion of the remainder of the city. Approval is anticipated in early 2009.
Historic District Tax incentive information is available at Pleasant Ridge City Hall, at 23925 Woodward Ave, or from the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) at www.michigan.gov/shpo. The SHPO can assist with the planning of your restoration or renovation projects. The goal is to help residents preserve the historic homes of Pleasant Ridge, while earning a state income tax credit.
